Grandma Silhouette

Grandma Silhouette
About the person:

My grandma is an amazing woman of courage and strength. After being diagnosed with cancer three years ago, this little old lady has fought tooth and nail to keep her life. Her doctor has nicknamed her "the Little Fighter" - a nickname I believe she wears with much satisfaction. She gets weekly chemo treatments, so as you can imagine, some days are harder than others. However, she still manages to wear most days with a bright smile, unfortunately as I post this picture, my grandma is being rushed to the doctor for a leg injury.  Sometime last night she fell, and finally, this morning was able to get to a phone. I'm sure she'll be fine, because she is after all a fighter.

About the photograph:

"Grandma Silhouette" was taken one lazy summer after noon. She was sitting on the porch as she does everyday when the weather permits. I snagged the shot just before she went inside for the night. I feel this photograph displays her courage quite well.  If you look closely, she is even offering us a slight smirk. "Grandma Silhouette" shows that even when things are darkest, you can still fight, and you can still win.
